λ A rare late 17th - early 18th century silk fan. The double silk leaf hand painted with an elegant lady and her attendant, bordered by crowned and plain gilt spangles the ivory sticks painted at the gorge, the guards inlaid with tortoiseshell and with the finest of piqué work. The verso painted with a basket of flowers and decorated with gold spangles. With tortoiseshell thumb piece at base. Length 23.5 cm.
